NCDOT crews are working to rebuild protective dunes, remove damaged pavement and grade the roadway near the Pea Island Visitor Center. The next step is to establish a one-lane paved detour with flaggers, followed by sandbag reinforcement and restoration of a two-lane roadway. Work depends on weather
