Pompano Players presents: Gutenberg! The Musical

About this event

The South Florida Premiere of the Tony-nominated Gutenberg! The Musical! is a clever, offbeat, frequently absurd comedy that affectionately spoofs the world of musical theater. This love letter to new works is told through the lens of two aspiring writers earnestly pitching their wildly inaccurate musical about the invention of the printing press, blending infectious enthusiasm, witty songs, and irreverent historical twists. Only eight performances, then it is gone.  SHOWTIMES November 6 –  15, 2026 (weekends)Week One:November 6 at 7:00pmNovember 7 at 2:00pm and 7:00pmNovember 8 at 2:00pmWeek Two: November 13 at 7:00pmNovember 14 at 2:00pm and 7:00pmNovember 15 at 2:00pm ACCOLADES: Tony-nominated - Best Revival of a Musical (2024) Drama Desk Nomination Drama League nominationLucille Lortel and Outer Critics Circle nominations (2007) REVIEWS: “Brilliantly realized and side-splitting!” –New York Magazine“A smashing success!” – The New York Times“There are lots of genuine laughs in Gutenberg!” – New York Post“…a master class in musical comedy.” — New York Stage Review“Gutenberg! is firmly imprinted on my heart, sans serif.” — ObserverFUN FACTS:On Broadway, every performance of GUTENBERG! ended with a surprise celebrity walking out of the audience in a yellow trucker hat.Hillary Clinton, Steve Martin, Patti LuPone, Billy Crystal, Lin-Manuel Miranda and "Weird Al."
