About this event

Do you have questions, concerns, or are you just curious what all the AI hype is about? Join us on Monday, November 2 at 6:30pm to hear Professor Susan E. Ray, PhD, present on AI in the present-day world. She will cover areas such as understanding what AI is and how it works, how it impacts our work and our lives, and why the debate over its use is so strong. What are the harms and benefits of adopting AI?

A teacher of literature and composition for over 20 years, Susan has spent the last seven as a tenured English professor at Delaware County Community College, outside Philadelphia. In 2026, she received the Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching and now serves as the college's AI Faculty Fellow. When AI arrived in her students' lives, she built Bridging the AI Gap, a grant-funded pilot that teaches students to use AI transparently, keeping their thinking visible on the page. It became the foundation of the work she does now: keynotes and workshops, a Faculty Mentor for the AAC&U, an AI-Aware Faculty Fellow for W. W. Norton, and publications including "The Fourth Literacy." To hear it from Susan, "Whether I'm with my own students or another campus's faculty, the goal is the same: helping people do their most human thinking in a moment that keeps telling them a machine can do it for them." Registration is preferred, though not required, for this program. Register at ridleylibrary.org.
