About this event
Most Pennsylvanians are familiar with the revolutionary Declaration of Independence, but there was a secondary document that residents of the Commonwealth needed to contemplate by the autumn of 1776.
Join us for an evening with local author and historian, Lorett Treese, as she presents her talk on that lesser-known document, “A Radical Shift – Pennsylvania’s State Constitution of 1776,” to round out our nation’s 250 th anniversary year.
Lorett Treese has been a resident of Chester County for many years. She graduated Bryn Mawr College and received a Master’s degree in American History from Villanova University’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. For over twenty years she was employed by Bryn Mawr College as its college archivist. She has been writing books and articles about regional history for over thirty years. Her books include The Storm Gathering: the Penn Family and the American Revolution; Valley Forge: Making and Remaking a National Symbol; the first and second editions of Railroads of Pennsylvania; and its companion volumes Railroads of New Jersey and Railroads of the Eastern Shore.
