About this event
Amara Legal Center and the DC Public Library are hosting an educational session focused on healthy relationships, identifying exploitation, and preventing sex trafficking.
This session is designed to help community members protect their autonomy, make safer relationship choices, and spot the early warning signs of abuse.
Key Focus Areas:
Understanding specific hallmarks that separate healthy relationships from unhealthy or abusive ones.
Examining how human trafficking and exploitation frequently occur within existing relationships rather than through strangers.
Utilizing strong boundaries and healthy communication to prevent exploitation and support healthy relationships.
This presentation is offered by Amara Legal Center, which provides free, trauma-informed legal representation, access to support services, and advocacy for a more equitable legal system for individuals impacted by sex trafficking or involved in sex work in the DC-metropolitan area. Amara knows that many human trafficking situations and other forms of exploitation occur within relationships, not through strangers. Strong boundaries and other healthy relationship tools help to prevent exploitation and can also support healing from past experiences.
