About this event
Oscar nominated John Wayne stars in this classic war movie featuring the flag-raising on Mt. Suribachi.
Taking a string of new recruits under his command, a harsh war sergeant prepares his men for the battle of Iwo Jima. Their survival depends on their leader's strict training regime, as his army begins to learn why he is so hard on them. John Wayne was nominated for an Oscar for his portrayal of Sgt. John Stryker. While the film has been dated by time, "Sands of Iwo Jima" provides some emotional gravitas when showing the flag-raising on Mt. Suribachi.
The first 9 people in attendance will receive a challenge coin from the Broward County Library Vet Fest.
