About this event

AI can now help solve big open problems in math. How will AI tools affect human understanding of mathematical results and theories? And what will it mean for research communities and the future of the field? Kevin Hartnett, author of The Proof in the Code, will moderate a panel discussion among mathematicians: Tristan Buckmaster (NYU), Bryna Kra (Northwestern), Michael Hopkins (Harvard), and Jacopo Borga (MIT). This event, co-sponsored by the Department of Mathematics, is the first of a planned series hosted by MITHIC and SERC exploring how AI is reshaping our personal and professional lives. The first 40 MIT students at the event will receive a copy of “The Proof in the Code” by Kevin Hartnett.
