Sunspot Symphony: The Sounds of Space

About this event
What does the Sun sound like? In this two-hour, hands-on workshop, you'll discover how NASA scientists turn telescope data into sound and listen to galaxies, nebulas, and exploding stars as music. Then you'll become a data composer. Working with a partner and a free, easy online tool, you'll transform more than a century of real sunspot counts into your own piece of music and hear the Sun's 11-year cycle rise and fall. To finish, you'll string a gemstone bracelet where each stone stands for one year of solar activity, so you can wear the rhythm of the Sun home.
No music, coding, or science experience needed, just curiosity. Laptops, headphones, and all supplies provided. Adults 18+. Registration required; space is limited.
***Our MakerSpace programs are very popular and often have a waitlist. If you register for a program that you can no longer attend, please cancel your registration so that others can move off the waitlist.***
