Manga & Graphic Novel Club

About this event

Discover, read, and discuss your favorite Manga, Anime, and Graphic Novels in a fun, welcoming, and encouraging environment! Connect with other readers, share your thoughts, and explore great stories together.

This club isn’t like your standard book club. In addition to reading selections from certain series and discussing the books, we will also take a look at scriptwriting, panel setting, and illustration. Think of this as a “How To Write Your Own Graphic Novels, Comics, and Manga” course once a month.

For Teens 13-18.

How Does It Work?

We will provide some basic materials (paper, pencils, ink pens/markers, notebooks) but you are welcome to bring your own.

The club will begin with the basics of what the genre and format is, learn about creative writing as a whole, and eventually move on to a writing/drawing workshop to learn what goes into creating manga and graphic novels/comics as a complete process.

Each club date, we will discuss what we’ve been reading, what our influences are, and what we’ve been working on in efforts of creating a fun, comfortable, and helpful workshop environment.
