Crochet Granny Squares

About this event

Crochet a classic granny square. Granny squares are the foundation of many blankets, bags and sweaters. Learn how to crochet in circles and then use increase stitches to make a square.

Class Duration : 2 hours

Age Requirements : 13-Adult, 11-12 with accompanying adult

Recommended Prerequisite : Crochet in the Round

Required Skills : Someone who can follow most patterns with ease, is able to read stitches and charts, and to whom working in the round is no longer a challenge.

Materials Fee : None

Out of District Fee : $10 (includes class and materials fees)

Optional Materials : Materials are provided for this class. Students have the option to bring the following materials:

At least 50 yards of size 5/bulky weight yarn preferably in a pastel color to see stitches

Size L/11 (8mm) hook

Level Description Beginner Someone who grasps the most basic stitches and can finish simple patterns with aid. Intermediate Someone who can follow most patterns with ease, is able to read stitches and charts, and to whom working in the round is no longer a challenge. Advanced Someone who can adjust patterns to their own preferences, substitute yarn, and produce neat results consistently in flat, round, lace, and three-dimensional projects.
