About this event
What challenges and opportunities do artificial intelligence tools and techniques pose for teaching media and creative film production today? This roundtable confronts the acceleration of AI tools and their applications for academic programs and professional filmmaking. Beyond its panelists, this roundtable will build upon questions and insights from a wide range of teaching and creative members of the UGA and Athens communities in the audience. Roundtable members include Kate Fortmueller (Georgia State University School of Film, Media & Theater), a nationally recognized expert researching and publishing on film and television labor and unions; Neil Landau (UGA Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication), an award-winning screenwriter, producer, and author of TV Writing on Demand and The Screenwriter’s Roadmap, among others; Trinity Vélez-Justo (UGA Hugh Hodgson School of Music and ReelScoring, LLC), a professional media music composer, sound designer, and researcher and director of UGA’s Film & Media Scoring Program, plus Chris Wells, a digital visual effects artist and producer whose hundreds of credits begin with Avatar and continue through this year’s Is God Is and Scary Movie. Richard Neupert hosts the roundtable, which is free and open to the public.
