About this event

A presentation about a forgotten Chinese-American woman who championed women's education and the right for women to vote

In 1912, Mabel Ping-Hua Lee led the march for the right for women to vote in New York City. As an immigrant from China, she couldn’t become an American citizen. Mabel Ping-Hua Lee championed women’s education, civic engagement, and the right for women to vote throughout her life. Ted Gong, executive director of the 1882 Foundation in DC Chinatown, will present Mabel Ping-Hua Lee’s story and the work of the foundation in the District.
