Youth and Family Services is excited to share that from October 15th through November 15th, DC Public Library will be celebrating 30 years of Pokemon!
Join us on Saturday, November 7th for an afternoon movie marathon of the OG first three Pokemon movies back to back to back: Pokemon the First Movie , Pokemon the Movie 2000 , and Pokemon 3 the Movie . Movies will screen in the Children's programming room on the second floor.
The entire DC Public Library system invites you accept a special challenge for children, teens and Pokémon‑loving families of all ages. In the Pokémon games, Pokémon trainers travel the world to collect badges from gym leaders. We invite Pokémon trainers here in the District to travel the city and collect badges from our libraries!
The Badge Collecting Game
Here are the instructions for the game that will be presented to the public on our web page starting October 1st:
Visit one DC Public Library location in each of DC’s eight wards anytime between Oct. 15 - Nov. 15, 2026.
Pick up your Pokédex Passport at the first location and at each location, pick up a custom ward-themed badge
Once you’ve collected all eight badges, snap a photo of your completed Pokédex Passport
Upload it using the QR code on the Pokédex Passport to enter our Prize Raffle, drawn in Nov. 2026. The prizes include: a family four pack of tickets to AwesomeCon and $25 gift cards to PokemonCenter.com
We will also have a Pokemon Scavenger Hunt in the Children's Room running from October 15-November 15.
