About this event

A special concert for Veterans Day.

Step aboard for an engaging musical journey through naval history. Join the Library, the National Museum of the United States Navy, and the Navy’s premier chorus, the Sea Chanters, as they explore the songs, shanties, and traditions that helped sailors endure long voyages, build teamwork, and maintain morale at sea.

During this family-friendly program, the Sea Chanters will perform traditional sea shanties while museum staff interact with the band and guests to provide information related to the musical group and provide a historical background to the sea shanties.

Come discover how the rhythm of work, music, and shared experience helped carry the Fleet.

About the Sea Chanters: The U.S. Navy Band Sea Chanters is the official chorus of America’s Navy. The ensemble performs a variety of music ranging from traditional choral music, including sea chanteys and patriotic fare, to opera, Broadway and contemporary music. At home in Washington, D.C., the group performs for the president, vice president, and numerous congressional, military and foreign dignitaries
