About this event
Enrich your vocabulary and your knowledge of American culture as you read American short stories. Some are well-known stories by nineteenth century authors such as Mark Twain, Edgar Allen Poe and Nathaniel Hawthorne, adapted for English learners. Others come from Native American traditions, twentieth century authors, science fiction, mystery and fantasy. We usually spend one class on very short (one page or less) stories, and more time on longer ones. Pre-reading and post-reading activities are included to make unfamiliar words and idiomatic expressions clear and your experience enjoyable. Class is student-centered and tailored to individual interests.
