About this event
Presented by T.J. Fallon of Dead History
Co-Sponsored by the American Association of University Women (AAUW), Freehold Area Branch
On July 4, 1776, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania officially broke away from the British Empire when the Second Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence. Fifty-six men signed this cherished document.
Five months later, on Christmas night 1776, General George Washington led 2,400 Continental Army troops across the Delaware River from Pennsylvania to New Jersey. This daring, late-night maneuver during a severe winter storm enabled a surprise attack on Hessian forces at Trenton, revitalizing the American Revolution after a series of defeats.
We hear these stories from childhood and increasingly during special anniversaries such as this year's 250th anniversary of our Nation.
What about the women?
