About this event
Are you an emerging or established novelist who needs some good feedback on your manuscript? Or an indie author struggling to bring your tales of space, sorcery, or sleeping terrors in the dark to audiences who’ll pay for the privilege of reading them? Join us for Sci-Fi, Fantasy & Horror Authors’ Mutual Support (SFFHAMS) at the Ives Main Library in New Haven.
Our meetings are divided into two parts. Hour one is dedicated to sharing current projects and assisting each other reach our artistic goals. In hour two, we switch gears to discussing practical ways that we can collaborate to economically support the creation of good, authentic, free, and independent art. Whether that be through something as simple as cross-promotion, or exploring new economic concepts such as publishing cooperatives and mutual credit, this meetup is a venue for storytellers to cultivate both the artistic and material environment necessary to foster true creativity and engage in social critique without fear of suppression or reprisal.
Writers of all levels of experience and prominence are welcome who are serious about advancing their career and establishing themselves independently of mainstream publishers. Creators of all social, class, gender and cultural backgrounds are welcome. Art knows no borders, and we refuse to enforce them here.
