About this event
Celebrate Native American Heritage Month!
Atanarjuat: The Fast Runner is a 2001 Canadian drama film directed by Zacharias Kunuk and written by Paul Apak Angilirq. Based on an ancient Inuit legend, the film follows Atanarjuat, a skilled runner whose community faces conflict, betrayal, and challenges to survival.
Filmed entirely in Inuktitut with an almost entirely Inuit cast and crew, the film celebrates Inuit language, culture, traditions, and storytelling. Atanarjuat made history as the first Canadian film to win the Caméra d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
This powerful film provides an opportunity to celebrate Native American and Indigenous heritage, storytelling, and cultural traditions during Native American Heritage Month.
