About this event
Speaker: Eric Sommers (University of Massachusetts, Amherst) Title: Lusztig's families of representations via noncrossing partitions Abstract: Lusztig organized the irreducible representations of a Weyl group into families. In this talk we describe the families in the classical types using the combinatorics of noncrossing partitions for type A. A highlight of this perspective is that it plays well with Springer theory, as well as Lusztig's parametrization of the principal series unipotent representations for the corresponding finite Chevalley group.
