The Imaginary Menagerie

About this event

Inspired by dinosaurs, local artists working with The Art Department have crafted sculptures using upcycled books. The Art Department, established in 2011, is one of five locations within Creative Trails, a nonprofit offering experiential and community-based support for adults with intellectual uniqueness. T.A.D. provides a professional environment where adults of all abilities can explore, develop, and share their artistic practice. Emphasizing creative agency and vocational skill building, T.A.D. offers supported studio time, professional instruction, and pathways for artists to engage meaningfully with their community. Through public exhibitions, retail opportunities, and partnerships with local arts organizations, businesses, and nonprofits, T.A.D. fosters inclusion and connection within the arts community and beyond. Together, we strengthen Portland’s cultural landscape by expanding access to professional artistic practice and broadening the definition of who is celebrated as an artist. These sculptures will be on display in the Adult Fiction section of the Downtown Branch from November 3 - December 4.
