About this event
James Sheppard was one of a small group of men with ties to Maine and NH who served during World War ll with the fighter squadron known today as the Tuskegee Airmen. For more than a decade Bob Sheppard has talked to audiences about his dad's experiences as part of the effort by the US Army Air Force to train black pilots to fly military aircraft, at a time when they were normally relegated to menial roles. The presentation by the former broadcast journalist includes a portion of a documentary on his late father, along with personal photographs and images from the National Archives, as well as the stories of three other men with ties to Maine and NH who served as Tuskegee Airmen.
