Improvised Instrumental and Vocal Music with Musicians Without a Net

About this event

Hear music created entirely in the moment during Musicians Without a Net, a free concert featuring 15 performers at the Historic Thomas Center. Instrumental duos and trios join a seven-singer ensemble to create original melodies, harmonies and rhythms without predetermined chord progressions, musical forms or keys. Unlike traditional jazz or bluegrass improvisation, these musicians begin without a planned musical structure, relying on careful communication and spontaneous musical ideas. Each performance unfolds naturally as the musicians respond to one another, creating compositions that have never been played before and may never be heard again.
