Classical Orchestra with the Gainesville Orchestra: Revolution

About this event

Hear the Gainesville Orchestra perform two distinctive orchestral works in Revolution, a classical concert pairing Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony with Finnish composer Einojuhani Rautavaara’s “Cantus Arcticus.” Beethoven’s celebrated symphony opens with one of classical music’s most recognizable four-note motifs and builds toward a triumphant finale, reflecting themes of struggle and determination. Rautavaara’s “Cantus Arcticus,” a concerto for birds and orchestra, incorporates recorded birdsong into an atmospheric musical portrait of Finland’s northern landscapes. Together, the works offer contrasting perspectives on the expressive power of orchestral music.
