Past Pages Society: NRPL History Book Club

About this event

Love history — or just love a good story? Join the Past Pages Society, a monthly book club for anyone who loves history — or simply wants to understand it better. Each session features dynamic discussions on books exploring history, culture, politics, and untold stories. Join us in November to discuss Ghosts of Cannae: Hannibal and the Darkest Hour of the Roman Republic, Robert L O’Connell’s brilliant account of the most apocalyptic battle in history and its consequences for the ancient world. Hannibal of Carthage’s astounding victory was brilliant, innovative - and utterly brutal. This disastrous moment in Rome’s history led ultimately to the republic’s resurgence but also to its turn to empire. Come read, reflect, and join the conversation! Registration is requested.
