About this event

Join Miss Lizzie each Wednesday morning at 11 am for our Little Bookworms Preschool Storytime program.

STAY TUNED FOR AN ANNOUNCEMENT FOR OCTOBER DATES AS WE MOVE CLOSER TO OUR RE-OPENING DATE.

Preschool Storytime is a lively, interactive program designed for children ages 2 –6 (with a favorite adult) to build early literacy skills through stories, songs, and hands-on activities. Storytimes are planned around a monthly theme and each week will include an extension activity (a craft, game or playscape designed to explore early literacy concepts.) Through the joy of stories, we build relationships and routines that support language development, phonological awareness, vocabulary growth, and print concepts.

THINGS TO KNOW:

1. WELCOME: Younger/Older siblings are welcome to join the program and participate as they are able. Guests are welcome. We love introducing our programs to new folks.

2. PLEASE REGISTER BELOW - In the event of unexpected schedule changes due to weather, illness, etc., e-mail is the quickest way for us to get in touch with our storytime families. REGISTRATION IS NOT REQUIRED WEEKLY - Registration is required only once per program series or season.

3. INCLEMENT WEATHER: In the event that our local school district (PVSD) has a weather delay or cancellation, all children's programs for that day will also be cancelled. Any announcements affecting library hours will be made on our website, social media, and our outgoing phone message.

4. STAY TUNED FOR ANY ADJUSTMENTS OR CHANGES. As we move back into our newly renovated library, our goal is to offer storytime programs in the new Children's Room space. Please be patient as we work together to make any adjustments such as additional times and/or age groupings, attendance limits or possibly moving to our auditorium space. Our goal is to provide a rich programming experience for all who attend and we may find that we need to fine tune our plans to best serve our patrons.

5. STAY UP TO DATE WITH OUR MONTHLY CALENDAR: Holidays, staffing and professional development days may require some edits to the weekly routine. Please be sure to check out the monthly calendar to stay in-the-know.

6. MAKING THE MOST OF STORY TIME: Our storytime programs are designed to be interactive with both children & adults engaged. As children head toward Kindergarten, caregivers may want to take step back and allow children to get comfortable with participating on their own. Whether you have a little on your lap or you are observing from a nearby chair, we do ask for phones to be set aside and conversations to be put on hold, so that we are all modeling attention and engagement for the children. Young children will wiggle, talk and even wander as they gain experience in group programs. Adults can help set the expectation for participation by modeling the behavior.
