From Sea to Shining Sea

About this event

Travel through the country, enjoying its history and majestic beauty, via some of America’s finest landscape paintings. This lecture explores the way in which American landscape painting helped establish a national identity, while also providing commentary on the relationship between nature and humanity. Marvel at the works of Thomas Cole, Frederic Edwin Church, and Albert Bierstadt, and others, as we celebrate our nation’s history and natural beauty. Art historian Mallory Mortillaro will bring America’s natural beauty to life! This program is in partnership with the Chatham Township Historical Society.
