About this event
Middletown was a largely agricultural area prior to the railroad coming through in the mid-19th century. Join us for a special presentation by the Museum of Early Trades & Crafts, "Garden State: Living Off the Land in 19th Century New Jersey". Explore the agricultural history of New Jersey and its profound influence on farming today. This program uses METC’s extensive collection of farming-related tools to bring to life this key aspect of New Jersey’s history. It also looks at what it was like to live and work on a 19th-century New Jersey farm.
The Museum of Early Trades & Crafts, located in Madison, N.J., explores American history with a focus on the life and stories of 18th- and 19th- century craftsmen and artisans. By connecting the lives of people and their stories, we share the past as we imagine the future.
