Yonkers Public Library presents Phenomenal Music 2026: Jazz and New Sounds series showcasing the best jazz musicians in the tri-state area. Steeped in the tradition of Charlie Parker and Cannonball Adderley but with a soulful voice all his own, alto and soprano saxophonist Vincent Herring has built a career that has spanned the great bands of the century, including the Horace Silver Quintet, Freddie Hubbard, Dizzy Gillespie, Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, Jack DeJohnette’s Special Edition; has performed and recorded with greats Steve Turre, Kenny Barron, Nancy Wilson, Dr. Billy Taylor and Carla Bley; and leads several of his own high-energy projects, including Something Else, a seven-piece all-star collaboration centered on a soul-jazz revue; The Battle, a co-led collaboration with Eric Alexander; Vincent Herring–Joris Dudli’s Soul Jazz Alliance; and the Vincent Herring Quartet. - Vincent Herring, saxophone - Mike LeDonne, piano - Jason Clotter, bass - Winard Harper, drums To register, visit theseries page on Eventbrite.
