About this event
During the Truman-Eisenhower era, Westerns evolved beyond simple white-hat-versus-black-hat tales. Their drifters, lawmen, and outcasts were emotionally scarred antiheroes burdened by guilt, trauma, prejudice, and moral ambiguity. Acclaimed and underappreciated filmmakers alike used the genre to explore complex human and social conflicts. Saddle up as film historian Max Alvarez leads a sprawling multimedia cattle drive through hostile territories of beleaguered sheriffs, gunslingers, bank robbers, ruthless land barons, and jaded saloon gals.
