About this event

FOR AGES 13-17.

In partnership with UGA, we are thrilled to present a YA horror book club and research study. This research study is an effort to understand how teenagers interpret and respond to YA horror literature, providing better understanding of how adolescents make meaning from YA horror texts, how they discuss representations of adolescence, authority, and vulnerability, and if these representations perpetuate or subvert adolescent stereotypes.

Participation in this research study includes:

- Participate in a book club that reads and discusses selected young adult horror books

- Attend several book club meetings (approximately 60–90 minutes) held at the Athens-Clarke County Library

- Engage in group discussions about the books, including sharing thoughts, interpretations, and reactions

***Given the graphic nature of these texts and the context of this research study, all participants will need a signed permission form from their legal guardians.

Please contact kacee.cooper@uga.edu or ya@athenslibrary.org if you're interested!
