About this event

Boost your reading skills and confidence by reading aloud to a volunteer therapy dog. Participants may choose their own books or use books at our library. This program will take place indoors at the North County Regional Library. Due to the high demand for this program, participants are asked to arrive a little early. Participants will need to ask for a number from the children's service desk. Participants will be called by number when it is their turn to read to the dog.

Time slots will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. In the case of inclement weather (such as thunderstorms or lightening) this program may be canceled. Bad weather can make it difficult for therapy dogs to maintain their composure and provide a comforting presence, which is essential for their therapeutic role. Additionally, thunderstorms can create an unsafe environment for dogs, and handlers might want to prioritize the safety of their animals and those they are interacting with. Please call your library branch to check the status of the program during storms.
