Hobbit Art Show Exhibit

About this event

November – December 2026 Submissions welcome September 1 – October 31 Levenson Room & Lobby Calling all fans of The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, The Silmarillion, Middle Earth, The Rings of Power, and the works of J.R.R. Tolkien! We’d like to see how Tolkien’s work inspires you. We’re hosting a Hobbit Art Show! Submit your art to the library any time in September or October, and we’ll display it here until December 31. This show is open to all ages, all skill levels, and all forms of media. This show will not be judged. Art will be displayed, but not sold, and returned to each artist at the completion of the exhibit. To submit, just bring your art to the main Circulation Desk at the library. Please make sure you have attached your name and contact information to your piece. The deadline for submissions is October 31!* The library building turns twenty this year, and when we think of iconic birthday parties, we think of Bilbo and how libraries represent so many of the values hobbits believe in – the communal spirit and taste for simple pleasures, the pursuit of peace and friendship, and the power of stories to change our lives. So we’re hosting a season of events this autumn dedicated to The Hobbit, Lord of the Rings, and all things Tolkien! Keep an eye out for upcoming events, and mark your calendars for our Hobbit Party on Friday, December 11 – with games, activities, prizes and more! More info coming soon. *Art will be available to pick up in January after the show finishes.
