Family Place Play and Grow (18 months - 4 years old)

The Downingtown Library is proud to be a part of the Family Place Library Network, where local public libraries are a community hub to support early learning, parental/caregiver involvement, and good health.. These qualities in a library can play a critical role in a young child's growth and development.

The overall goal of Family Place Libraries is to develop and institutionalize a family friendly environment by transforming libraries into community centers for literacy, early childhood development, parent education and engagement, family support, and community information.

We are proud to host a new 5-week series to support our Family Place goals. Join this 5-week cohort for a 1-on-1 child/caregiver 1-hour organized play session, once a week.

Each week we will focus on a new theme:

Week 1: Early Literacy-October 23rd

Week 2: Speech, Hearing and Language Development- October 30th

Week 3: Child Development- November 6th

Week 4: Pediatric Nutrition- November 13th

Week 5: Movement and Music- November 20th

For each week's theme, we will be joined by a research professional who is an expert in their field, who will be available to answer questions and talk through any concerns the parent/caregiver may have about their child's growth/development.

Play will be organized into different stations, with the parent/caregiver and their child moving around the room at their leisure. There will be different toy stations, a sensory station, and an art station.

Children must be between ages 18 months and 4 years old to participate.

In order to follow Family Place Program regulations, older siblings will not be invited to participate in this program. The focus will be between the 18 month-4 year old and their accompanying grown-up.

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED, SPACE IS LIMITED. PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU AND YOUR CHILD CAN ATTEND ALL 5 WEEKLY SESSIONS.

PLEASE ONLY REGISTER THE NAME OF THE CHILD WHO IS PARTICIPATING. ADULTS DO NOT NEED TO BE REGISTERED.

THE PROGRAM ONLY ALLOWS ONE ACCOMPANYING ADULT PER CHILD.
