About this event
The National Institute of Health estimates that between 80% and 90% of Americans will experience at least one episode of lower back pain in their lives, and it is the leading cause of work-related disability. Lower back pain is a broad symptom with many sources, some predominantly impacting younger individuals while other likely causes increase with age. Join physical therapist JT Dodge for an informative and accessible look at the common causes of back pain such as disc herniation, stenosis, and sciatica. He will explain some of the misconceptions surrounding back pain, as well as offer suggestions for methods to improve back pain symptoms as well as mitigate future risk. There will be time for questions and answers at the end of the program. PLEASE NOTE: This program is for informational purposes only and is not intended to diagnose or recommend treatment for individual circumstances. Please consult with your healthcare provider before undertaking any medical decision. About the presenter James-Taylor Dodge earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy at New York Medical College after completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Scranton, and his Masters degree at Hofstra University. JT's passion for physical therapy started while working as a strength and conditioning coach and personal trainer where he wanted to learn how to help restore his athlete's/client's abilities to perform exercises and activities without pain or limitation. He is the director of Iron Health, a physical therapy clinic serving Westchester and Fairfield counties.
