About this event

Please join us for an evening filled with humor, insight, and compassion as authors Susan Bauerfeld and Chris Parrott speak about their new book Base Camp Parenting: Worry Less to Help Your Kids More. In a time when relentless worry is the norm for parents, and often worn like a badge of honor, let Susan and Chris give you the tools necessary to shift away from worrying. They'll discuss the adverse impact of parental worrying on “Base Camp”—the environment in which children are raised—and show how shifting attention away from worried thinking is crucial to overall health and well-being. By following their easy-to-implement four-step shifting process, families can become calmer, more connected, and better prepared to handle life’s ups and downs. Base Camp Parenting provides a transformational model for raising healthy, capable, and resilient children who can cope effectively with the stress and anxiety of the modern world. Susan Bauerfeld, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist, IFS therapist, speaker, parent consultant/coach, and ADHD coach. Since retiring from her private practice, her speaking centers around managing challenges related to anxiety, child-raising, learning differences, and technology. Chris Parrott, CPsychol, is a British Psychological Society Chartered Counseling Psychologist and a board-certified coach. In her private coaching practice, she specializes in working with emerging adults and parents. She is co-author of Reach Before You Teach: Ignite Passion and Purpose in Your Classroom and Doing Therapy Briefly. This program is co-sponsored by Wilton Youth Council and SPED*NET. There will be time for Q & A after the author talk. Elm Street Books will be on site to sell copies of Base Camp Parenting, which the authors will be happy to sign. A portion of the proceeds goes to Wilton Library. Registration is requested. Registeronline or call (203) 762-6334.
